Got a Nest thermostat here says, “No power to R wire detected”
0:04.7
0:09.9
Luckily I have a setup where I have other
Nest thermostats so I am just going to change
0:09.9
0:15.3
out the thermostat before I go jumping into
the wiring.
0:15.3
0:20.9
I did on the other one pull the deal off and
reset the R wire to see if it was that.
0:20.9
0:21.9
So here goes.
0:21.9
0:29.0
I am going to go ahead and plug this one in
to here.
0:29.0
0:31.1
This one it is okay.
0:31.1
0:33.9
It does seem to have the R wire.
0:33.9
0:39.4
So on the other one when I take this in I
am most likely going to need to check it at
0:39.4
0:41.6
the air handler.
0:41.6
0:46.0
It’s possible that the R wire came apart or
something along those lines.
0:46.0
0:49.2
So I will switch this one to off.
0:49.2
0:54.3
I will just take this one back in the off
hand chance that it’s not that and that it
0:54.3
0:57.4
just needed to be reset.
0:57.4
0:58.8
So we’ll see.
0:58.8
1:04.2
But most likely I am going to need to pull
it apart at the thermostat and check the transformer.
1:04.2
1:05.4
Okay.
1:05.4
1:08.3
Plugged the unit back in but that didn’t get
it.
1:08.3
1:12.7
What I had to do was push on the left hand
side of the service door to reengage the service
1:12.7
1:14.0
door switch.
1:14.0
1:15.1
That’s what it was.
1:15.1
1:17.3
All fixed.
1:17.3
1:23.3
That brought the power back to the red wire
and the Nest thermostat back to normal and
1:23.3
1:38.0
the heater working again.
